Clan Sinclair

Like other Scottish clans, the Clan Sinclair is a kinship group giving members a sense of shared identity and descent.  Its purpose is to promote and perpetuate family tradition within the context of Scottish history and culture. The word ‘clan’ derives from the Gaelic word clann, meaning “children”.

The Clan’s Hereditary Chief is The Rt. Hon. The Earl of Caithness who plays an active role in encouraging clan members and attending gatherings around the world. The clan motto is ‘Commit thy work to God’.

Clan Sinclair is represented worldwide by associations in Australia, Canada, Scotland and the United States, which are all open to new members –
