A royal reminiscence at Rosslyn

An historic royal visit to Rosslyn Chapel has been recreated on 14 September 2017, exactly 175 years after it took place.

Actors Hana MacKenzie of Edinburgh and Michael Dallas of Glasgow, both part of the Scottish Youth Theatre National Ensemble, were joined by Carol Hardacre, a visitor from Gloucester, to celebrate a visit by Queen Victoria.

Queen Victoria visited the Midlothian landmark on 14 September 1842, with Prince Albert, while staying at Dalkeith Palace, on the last day of her first trip to Scotland. In her diaries, she described the Chapel’s architecture as ‘most beautiful & rich’.
