The Chapel Today

Although surviving for over 500 years, Rosslyn Chapel has not escaped the ravages of time. This, together with the Scottish climate and human intervention, means that urgent work is now required to safeguard the Chapel's future.

Broken Stone

One of the first things you will notice on a visit to Rosslyn Chapel today is the steel canopy which protects the building. Over the last 10 years this canopy has helped to keep rain off the roof and allow the Chapel to gradually dry out. It is expected that the canopy will be removed in the spring of 2010. This is one part of a major conservation project which is currently underway and includes work not only to the roof, but also to the stone, the carvings, the stained glass and organ.
