Gaita Medieval Music Ensemble will present ‘The Romance of Fergus’.
Arthur’s Court – ‘The Romance of Fergus’. 10th June 7.30pm
Gaita Medieval Music Ensemble will present ‘The Romance of Fergus’ with a narration (in English) of the story intertwined with songs and music of the period. “Fergus” is a little-known Arthurian romance, written in Old French around 1200, and clearly set in southern Scotland. It gently satirises the conventions of courtly chivalry and romance as the hero, Fergus, an aspiring son of a peasant from Galloway, follows his quest in a hapless fashion from Carlisle to Dunnottar to Roxburgh castles, eventually gaining a high place at Arthur’s court.
