Solway Singers has its origins in a further education evening class set up in 1998. Anthony Peacock was appointed MD in 2003 and since then the choir has grown both in number and in the quality of its performances, earning a reputation as one of the foremost choirs in Cumbria. Solway Singers is often complimented on its “lovely English sound and choral blend”. Its repertoire is wide, interesting and, at times, for the singers at least, challenging. In addition to the works of our past masters, the choir tries to keep its repertoire up to date, regularly performing compositions and arrangements of contemporary composers throughout Northern England and Southern Scotland.
