Celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee

Rosslyn Chapel will be open as usual, during the holiday period to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, with tickets available to book on this website.

A concert on Saturday by The Scottish Chamber Choir – now sold out – will mark the occasion with a programme of a cappella music by British composers. In our coffee shop, visitors can celebrate with a glass of prosecco and slice of gateau at a special price on Friday, Saturday and Sunday during normal opening times. Seventy trees have been planted in Roslin Glen by Rosslyn Chapel Trust to commemorate the Jubilee – read more here.

The Queen visited Rosslyn Chapel on 29 June, 1961, with The Duke of Edinburgh, during a royal tour of Midlothian. The visit was hosted by The Earl of Rosslyn (pictured) and a number of members of staff were presented to the Queen during the visit. Lord Rosslyn later wrote ‘The Queen commented on the length of service and devotion of those presented and remarked with a smile that we were ‘something of a family Clan’. She was clearly delighted with, and interested in all that she saw and heard, and gave immense pleasure by her visit to the whole of the village who had assembled outside the Chapel wall, as well as to the rest of us.’

We send our warmest congratulations to Her Majesty on the historic occasion of her Platinum Jubilee.
