Cleaning up work continues

Over the past few months, there has been scaffolding around the north side of the Chapel.  This scaffolding is to allow stonemasons access to various areas of the building so that they can clean up the exterior stone.

This week, work has been taking place to move the scaffolding to a new area on the north-west corner of the Chapel.

You can see from the before and after images the difference this exterior cleaning is having on the look of the Chapel.  The stonework is brighter, the detail in some cases sharper, and the colour of the stone is really beginnig to be seen again.

This work is due to be completed by the end of 2012.
