Queen’s Baton Relay visits Chapel

A guard of honour from Rosslyn Chapel’s Junior Guides welcomed the Queen’s Baton, carried by actor Brian Cox,  when it arrived at Rosslyn Chapel today.

As part of its day in Midlothian, the Baton arrived in Roslin just after 9.15am, then  proceeded along the Main Street. Alastair Brown, of Balerno, handed the Baton to Brian Cox who arrived at Rosslyn Chapel at 9.25am.

The Chapel’s Junior Guides, who are all in p7 at Roslin Primary School, also welcomed guests from the local community and local businesses who had come to see the event.

Ian Gardner, Director of Rosslyn Chapel Trust, said ‘This is a great day for Midlothian and I am delighted that the Queen’s Baton Relay has been able to visit the Chapel, which is one of the area’s iconic buildings. Our Junior Guides provided a fitting welcome for our special baton bearer, on what was a memorable visit’.

Further details about the Queen’s Baton Relay’s visit to Midlothian can be found here. The Queen’s Baton is travelling throughout the Commonwealth in advance of the Commonwealth Games, taking place in Glasgow this summer.
