Cleaning in the Chapel

Over the past few weeks, a team of stone conservators have been working their way around the interior of the Chapel cleaning up the dust and cobwebs from the building.

The process is time consuming because, like all the work carried out to the Chapel, it needs to be done with a great deal of care.

This is the first time in approximately 50 years that cleaning on this scale has been carried out in the Chapel and the results look amazing.

The image opposite shows an area of the upper level on the north side.

It is clear to see the difference between the cleaned up section on the left of the image and the section on the right that is still to be worked on.
