Fundraising recitals hit right note for school

Roslin Primary School has acquired a set of new keyboards, to enhance its music lessons, thanks to a series of  fundraising concerts held at the Chapel.

Among the concerts, held in 2022, were a series of organ recitals which were supported by Scotland’s Churches Trust. Proceeds have helped boost the Chapel’s links with the village primary school which already include the highly successful Junior Tour Guide programme for P7, ‘takeover’ days for P6 and a new musical performance, inspired by the book William the Cat and the Rescue of Rosslyn Chapel, for P4 (pictured).

Helen Love, Head Teacher, said: ‘ We are very grateful to Rosslyn Chapel for their partnership with the school. This ranges from the Junior Tour Guide programme, to our new ‘William the Cat’ performance, but also includes workshops and visits. This year the Chapel offered some funding from events to support the school to buy musical instruments. We decided to use the money to buy ten new keyboards, with headphones, which seemed appropriate as one of the events was an Organ Recital. This allows one keyboard per pair during music lessons. Our music teacher is incorporating their use in the lessons. Thanks to everyone at Rosslyn Chapel for all they do to support the school, it is one of the things that makes Roslin Primary special.’
