Chapel hopes for double awards success

Rosslyn Chapel staff are hoping for a double celebration next week as the site has been shortlisted for two awards – with the winners to be announced at two different ceremonies on the same evening.

The Chapel has been shortlisted in this year’s regional finals of the Scottish Thistle Awards, organised by VisitScotland, which says that ‘those in contention for regional titles include internationally recognised attractions, family-run tourism businesses, major cultural events and rising industry talent, all recognised for creating memorable experiences and making a positive contribution to Scotland’s tourism and events sector’. The Chapel is a finalist in the ‘inclusion’ category in recognition of its work in engaging with diverse audiences including families, overseas visitors, disabled visitors, local schools and members of the local community. Winners will be announced at the awards dinner at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh.

Rosslyn Chapel is also a finalist in the Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce Awards, with winners to be announced at a ceremony at Eskmills, in Musselburgh. The Chapel is shortlisted in the category of ‘Retailer of the Year’, recognising the quality and diversity of unique products on sale in the Chapel’s shop, including a new selection from Scottish suppliers, with bespoke branding where possible to connect to the site. These include liqueurs from a company in Perthshire, biscuits from Orkney, diffusers and candles made by a social enterprise in Ayrshire and photo prints by an Edinburgh photographer. A new promotional campaign – Scotland in Every Sense – was also introduced to highlight the products and suppliers for visitors to the Chapel’s shop and website shop.

Whatever the outcome, it’s wonderful recognition for all the Rosslyn Chapel Trust team, who work hard all year round to ensure that experiences are memorable and enjoyable for all of our visitors. Fingers will be firmly crossed for both ceremonies.’

Winners for both awards will be announced on Thursday 17^th September.
