February news update

Romance was in the air this week with an engagement proposal in the Chapel – congratulations to the happy couple, Alan and Katie, from all the staff here at Rosslyn.

Also this week our Junior Tour Guides returned, braving the pouring rain on Thursday to perform to 41 visiting pupils from Moorfoot Primary. It was the first performance of the year for this particular group of guides, and they did wonderful job, ensuring that Moorfoot Primary were suitably impressed.

In other news, the Chapel has been back on TV. Those of you who enjoyed “Rosslyn Chapel: a Treasure in Stone“, screened on BBC4 last month, may be interested to hear about another Chapel-related documentary currently being shown of the Discovery Channel. The Earlier this year, Rosslyn had a documentary crew from Blink Films in the Chapel, filming an episode of The True Story, for the Discovery Channel. The True Story looks at the real lives and true stories behind Hollywood blockbusters and this episode looks at Ron Howard’s controversial box office hit The Da Vinci Code. The documentary explores a few of the theories about Leonardo Da Vinci, in particular his fascination with codes and symbols. This leads to an exploration of our famous “musical cubes”. If you would like to watch the documentary, it is showing on the Discovery Channel at 10pm on 3rd February and at 8pm on 4th February.
